About us

After taking early retirement from the teaching profession, we moved to Pyle House from Hertfordshire in 2005.

Since then we have been regularly welcoming family and friends to this beautiful part of the West Country.  Now Madeleine and Mike are ready to accommodate all our guests in a Bed and Breakfast of top quality.

The house, gardens, orchard and hay field occupy an area of three and a half  acres in a secluded and tranquil setting.

The extensive landscaped garden has been sympathetically designed to complement the surrounding countryside.  The variety of trees and plants attracts an abundance of wildlife including many species of birds and butterflies.  Buzzards, roe deer, foxes, rabbits and waterfowl are often spotted close to the house and in the valley below.
After a busy day you are very welcome to stroll around the beautiful garden or relax under the arbour with a cup of tea.

Mike is still an enthusiastic sportsman, regularly playing cricket and tennis and is an experienced walker.  From our first days here, he developed a keen interest in fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast beaches around Lyme Regis.

Madeleine wears the “green wellies” and loves her garden and pond.  She has a wide variety of interests including natural history and music.  She enjoys cooking and her well prepared breakfasts and home-made jams are a delight.
